5th February 2024

National Apprenticeship Week brings together businesses and apprentices across the UK, to shine a light on the positive impact that the apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week this year is Skills for Life, reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career; and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills.

We caught up with two of our amazing apprentices here at Viessmann UK.

Here’s what Estella and Lorna had to say when we asked them why they chose an apprenticeship here at Viessmann UK and what it means to them.

Estella Bahadur

Why did you choose the particular apprenticeship with Viessmann?

I chose my apprenticeship with Viessmann because I wanted to learn how to be a content creator in a professional environment. I had done content creation freelance before but had never had the opportunity to work for a company and learn the skills needed to be a professional content creator.

What were the reasons behind choosing an apprenticeship?

I chose to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to explore a career in marketing and learn new skills that I would enjoy developing.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

The most enjoyable thing about my apprenticeship is that I'm given the freedom to learn whilst I work, which has led me to expand my knowledge and skills. But aside from that, I really enjoy working with Lorna. We work really well together and have become great friends through doing so.

Why did you choose the particular apprenticeship with Viessmann?

I chose this apprenticeship with Viessmann as it's the exact area and level of business I want to go into at this stage in my life and it will help me create the building blocks I need for a career in Marketing, as well as Viessmann being a company that has the same interests as myself by driving sustainability and renewable energy.

What were the reasons behind choosing an apprenticeship?

I thought about going to University but was put off by having to wait another 4 years to properly get into the workforce, so I am hoping to eventually get a degree through apprenticeships, therefore earning and learning while being a part of the Viessmann community.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I enjoy being able to apply my learning directly into my job and actually see the live action of a business like Viessmann, while learning the official ins and outs. It also means I can put into practice and figure out the areas of the apprenticeship that I like the best and get a real feel of my role within Viessmann.

Our HR Business Partner, Vicki Savage says:

National Apprenticeship Week is crucial for various reasons. First, it’s a testament to the value we place on the next generation. It’s a day to recognise our apprentices' efforts, to celebrate their determination and to equip them with the knowledge and insights that will be extremely beneficial to them as they navigate their careers. Secondly, it facilitates an environment of mentorship. The interactions they have with experienced professionals will help shape their entire careers.

We’re so proud to see how well Estella and Lorna are doing in their roles.  They are a brilliant asset to the business and we’re proud to have them with us on their apprenticeship journey!
